Samsung announces metal-body Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge ;

Samsung on Sunday evening unveiled the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones on the eve of the Mobile World Congress, an annual phone-related trade exhibition. With its new phones Samsung hopes to recapture some of the mojo it has lost to Apple and HTC after the launch of the iPhone 6 and HTC One phones.
Both the S6 and the S6 Edge are flagship Android phones from Samsung and come packed with latest technologies.
The Galaxy S6 has a 5.1-inch screen with 1440p screen. The S6 Edge too has the same screen, on both the right and left side of the phone this screen curves to melt into the backcover. This is similar to the screen of the Galaxy Note Edge, albeit on the S6 Edge the curved part of the display is on the both sides.
Samsung, which is often criticized for using plastic body even in its flagship phones, says that it redesigned the Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge from grounds up. Though the design of both phones look similar to the design used in the Galaxy s5 — rounded edges, similar shape — these are first Samsung smartphones to use unibody metal and glass design. Both are also extremely thin. The S6 measures 6.8mm while the S6 Edges measures 7mm.
Keeping in line with the previous Galaxy S, the new devices too use state-of-the-art hardware. Both phones are powered by Exynos 7420 processor, which has 8 cores and can run at speed of up to 2.1GHz. Also both will come with minimum of 32GB internal storage. Samsung said that it is using 3GB RAM in both the S6 and the S6 Edge.
Both phones come with 16-megapixel rear camera. Samsung claimed that this camera is better than even the camera in the iPhone 6 Plus, widely considered to be one of the best cameras seen in a smartphone. Both will also come with 5-megapixel front camera.
The S6 and S6 Edge will run on Android Lollipop, customised with Samsung's Touchwiz interface. Samsung claimed that the new version of the TouchWiz interface is flatter, faster and better looking.
"With the all new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, Samsung is offering what's next in mobility, along with a new standard to drive the global mobile agenda," said JK Shin, CEO and Head of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics. "By listening to our customers, and learning from both our success and missteps, we continuously push forward new technologies and ideas. With a reimagined design, robust partner network and novel services, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge offer users the ultimate experience in smartphone options."
The S6 and the S6 Edge will be available in 20 countries from April 20. We expect India to be among the first countries to get the device," he added.
