Backed by the government aided education projects, the PC market in India
is expected to grow this year.
A
report by the market research firm IDC has anticipated that this year the
overall PC market will grow compared to 2014. The growth will be driven by the
government-aided education projects to buy the commercial PC business.
According
to the Digit, the firm forecast that in the short term, inventory issues and
constrained buying from end-users is likely to impact January-March 2015 sales.
IDC
Research Manager Kiran Kumar has said that the special education projects and
improved business sentiment in the enterprise business would continue to drive
commercial PC volumes in 2015.
"We
expect new entry level price points to be created for full-blown PCs with
innovative form factors and that will continue to drive excitement in this
category."
"The
consumer PC market stood at 4.9 million units in 2014, with year-on-year growth
of just 1.7 per cent over 2013. The stable government in the center aided hopes
on reforms and economic progress boosting overall end-user confidence," he
has said.
