Uttar Pradesh: Law student's chopped body found on highway ;

Family members mourn Gauri's death at their Lucknow residence on Tuesday.In a gruesome incident, a young woman named Gauri Srivastava was found murdered and chopped into pieces, and her body parts were thrown on Sahid Path in Lucknow on Monday night.The victim's limbs, head, torso and abdomen were dumped separately. The crime came to light when local residents found stray dogs smelling a gunny bag in which the body parts were wrapped.

The police recovered another gunny bag about 300 metres from the first spot. "The hands and the head of the victim were found in the bag. The torso was found a few metres away from that spot," police inspector Sanjay Sharma of PGI police station told Mail Today.


The victim's identity was established on Tuesday. Gauri was a law student at the Ambedkar Law University and a resident of Aminabad.
"Gauri's father identified her and informed us that she was missing since Monday evening, and her phone was switched off. We are trying to nab the culprits," Sharma said. "The body parts have been sent for postmortem," he added.
The victim's mother said, "My daughter was receiving threat calls for the past few days. If the police work hard, they can crack the case."
