Motorola Mobilty has had quite a decent track record with respect to bringing out regular and timely software updates across its range of devices, until of course Android Lollipop came in. Moto devices that stand only next to the Nexus line up with respect to getting quick OS updates have not witnessed such feat in case of Android 5.0.
India is a significant market for Motorola both with respect to sales as well as regular soak tests. After carrying out soak tests for the Moto G, Moto G (Second Gen) and Moto X here, the company is now all set to do the same with the much popular Moto E handset.
The company has confirmed via its official Motorola India Fans Facebook page that it is now sending out invites to Motorola Feedback Network members for the Lollipop soak test.
"Motorola sending out Lollipop 5.0.2 soak test invites for Moto E in India." says the Facebook post.
As part of the test, Motorola Feedback Network members using the Moto E can test Lollipop on their handsets and give relevant feedback based on usage. The test shall run for a period of about two weeks.
Post the soak test, if the user feedback is largely positive, the Moto E will start receiving the Android Lollipop update via OTA.
Unlike other OEMs, Motorola seems very transparent about the issues it has with the Lollipop update that has caused the much talked about delay in venting out the update for all its devices.
"Do you know why Lollipop was Delayed for Motorola phones? Android 5.0 caused App lag, premature battery drain, WiFi issue, Calls issue, Bluetooth issue on Non nexus test devices. So, Google released a patch 5.0.1. It had several more bugs. Finally, 5.0.2 patch came out in Dec. which was stable." quotes Motorola.
