When Samsung launched Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge on Sunday in Barcelona, it decided to attack Apple head-on. In the smartphone industry, these sorts of attacks are rare. So it was very surprising.
While talking about its new phones, Samsung mentioned Apple twice. Once it took a dig at the fruity company saying that the S6 is not only slim but also won't bend! The second time the attack was more direct.
As it explained the new camera hardware and features in the S6, Samsung said that it was better than the camera in the iPhone 6 Plus. In fact, it showed photos clicked with both the iPhone 6 Plus and the S6 and the S6 photos were clearer and had more light in them.
Now, Apple has responded back and it has done in a style that only Apple can manage. The company has collected some beautiful photos shot by iPhone 6 users and have put them on its home page.
"Apple Check it out! Celebrating the amazing, breathtaking photos of our customers shot on iPhone 6.," Apple CEO Tim Cook tweeted.
Now, we know that the iPhone 6 Plus has one of the best cameras ever
put in a smartphone. It is really good. But it also a possibility that
Samsung has come up with something better. At least on paper, the S6
camera hardware is really good.The S6 uses 16-megapixel image sensor. It is probably made by Sony and has an aperture of F1.9, which could help it capture more light. It also comes with the optical image stabilisation. However, as we have seen in the past, good camera hardware is not a guarantee of good performance in actual use. In smartphones a lot happens in the software, how images are processed and how data is interpreted and Apple is master at making the most of its camera hardware. So while Samsung's claim of offering better camera in the S6 is a welcome news for Android users, let's wait a while before we can declare winner between the Galaxy S6 and the iPhone 6 camera shootout.
