21-year-old woman raped by burqa-clad man in Bengaluru, cops clueless

In a shocking incident, a 21-year-old woman was raped last week here by a man who wore burqa to conceal his identity. The culprit was assisted in the crime by another man who too wore a burqa. The two men had entered the woman's house near Lalbagh Botanical Gardens to commit the crime. Police is investigating the case, but the sleuths are clueless as they do not have any visual of the accused. Usually the police come up with the sketches of the accused based on the description provided by the rape victims. However, in this case the woman never got to see her rapists, as they had covered their faces with veils.
According to the police, the incident took place when the woman was alone at home. Though the front doors and gates were locked, the rear door was open through which the two men gained entry into the house. The woman was watching television when the two accused attacked her from behind. They covered the woman's face with a cloth and dragged her into the bedroom. They gagged her mouth and tied her to the cot. Though she resisted, the miscreants beat her repeatedly and then she was raped. In her complaint, the woman told the police that one of the two men raped while the other assisted him.
The culprits fled after committing the crime. The woman was rescued by her brother later who returned to the house that afternoon. Finding the front door locked and getting no response from his sister, the brother entered the house using the rear door. "He was shocked to see his sister in such a condition. They filed a complaint on February 26 and we are probing the case," the police said. The police will record the victim's statement after she recovers from shock.
