Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani has come to the rescue of Sanskrit language. Speaking at an event in Varanasi on Saturday, she said: "I will leave no stone unturned to develop Sanskrit in the country."Irani was addressing an event titled Sanskrit Ganga organised by Sanskrit Bharati at the famous Assi Ghat. "The Centre is committed in protecting the language. But a joint effort should be made towards it," she added.
Praising the holy city for preserving the language, Irani said, "The shashtra parampara (tradition of religious discourse) and panditya parampara (tradition of scholarly debates) of Varanasi must be preserved. The scholars here are an epitome of tapodhan (the wealth of penance). I am here to take their blessings."
Earlier, while addressing the National Medicos Organisation at the Banaras Hindu University, Irani said, "Some people involved in the education system have created a false notion across the world that India is a backward nation. They have put a curtain on our glorious past. Pythagoras, the famous mathematician had arrived on the banks of the Ganga where he met Baudhayana, an Indian mathematician who had propounded the theories before Pythagoras."
"A new policy will restore our glory. Einstein had said that the world couldn't solve problems if India had not given 'zero' and 'decimal', the minister claimed.
