Delhi CM-designate Arvind Kejriwal rejects enhanced security cover ;

 

Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia met Rajnath Singh to demand statehood for Delhi.A day after his historic win in Assembly elections,


 Delhi Chief Minister-designate Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday refused to take security cover, said a party source.
According to a report published in IANS, the source said, "Through newspapers, we came to know that he (Kejriwal) will be given Z plus security. But, he is a man of the masses and doesn't need any security." 
"If he has to accept the Z Plus security then the police should give solid reasons and the level of threat for that kind of security," AAP leader Ashutosh said.

 

 

"After becoming chief minister, Kejriwal was given security by Delhi Police and that has continued even today. A police vehicle always accompanies him and there is some level of security outside his house.

"There has, however, been an increase in the security since yesterday, but no Z Plus security has been given," Ashutosh said.
Delhi Commissioner of Police BS Bassi said security is a privelege and we do not make it public...but whatever will be required and is appropriate under the statutory provision for the chief minister will be granted.
Kejriwal met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh around 3 pm on Thursday and invited him to his swearing-in ceremony. "We raised the issue of statehood and said that steps should be taken to work in that direction," Manish Sisodia said after the meeting.
Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party secured 67 out of 70 seats in Delhi. He will take oath as the Chief Minister on February 14.
